How to View Your University Timetable and Read Every Column

Viewing your timetable on your university's academic portal

Nobody hands you a paper timetable at university. After you register for credits — or, for freshmen, after the school pre-assigns your classes — your timetable lives on the academic portal, and every school calls it something different: MyBK, student portal, the online page, stdportal, AAO... The portal address and login method differ by school, so step one is finding your own school's portal, not googling "how to view the student timetable" and reading another school's instructions by mistake.

The table below covers the five schools we checked directly (July 2026). For other schools, look in your enrollment packet or ask your class Zalo group — the usual keywords are "cổng thông tin đào tạo", "portal sinh viên" or "hệ thống thông tin sinh viên". UEH additionally publishes a school-wide timetable PDF for each semester on daotao.ueh.edu.vn with no login, so you can see which section meets when before registering.

At HCMUT (Bách Khoa), from semester 1 of 2025-26 course registration and timetable viewing moved entirely to MyBK. The old academic-office links (aao.hcmut.edu.vn) are no longer used to view the timetable.

Your first login: account and initial password

The username depends on the school: some use the student ID number (MSSV), some use the school-issued student email itself, and some a dedicated account such as BKnetID. The initial password follows a different rule at each school and is usually printed in the enrollment guide or sent via email and the class Zalo group. Below are the rules at five schools, taken from official guidance.

Password recovery also differs: at HCMUT, follow the "student forgot BKnetID password" guide on MyBK (contact the academic office with your MSSV); at HCMUTE, contact the school's IT department as described in the student email account guide; at EIU, go to the IT office (building B5, room 202). Elsewhere, ask the academic office or IT department — never let a stranger online "reset it for you".

• HCMUT Freshmen activate their BKnetID following the OISP/MyBK guide (see sources at the end); one BKnetID covers MyBK and your @hcmut.edu.vn email with the same password.
• UEH Log in to student.ueh.edu.vn with your student email in the form HọTên.MSSV@st.ueh.edu.vn, issued as soon as your enrollment paperwork is processed.
• HCMUTE online.hcmute.edu.vn takes your MSSV or your Google account @student.hcmute.edu.vn (the same account serves the portal, the LMS and email). The initial password for the student email is given in the school's K25 guide (June 2025); per the same guide, the Google account is locked after 14 days without login.
• TDTU Your account is MSSV@student.tdtu.edu.vn and the initial password is TDTU followed by your MSSV in capitals (e.g. TDTUA25H9999). stdportal.tdtu.edu.vn redirects to the school's SSO page for login.
• EIU The AAO portal (aao.eiu.edu.vn) uses the Google account @eiu.edu.vn issued at enrollment — all school announcements go to this email too.

Change the password right after your first login. An initial password that follows a school-wide rule (e.g. TDTU + MSSV at TDTU) can be guessed by anyone who knows your number, and the portal holds your grades, tuition and personal data.

How to read a university timetable: THỨ, TIẾT, PHÒNG, MÃ LHP

The portal timetable is usually a table where each row is one meeting of one class section. Column names vary slightly between schools (Thứ / Ngày, Tiết BĐ – Số tiết / Tiết, Phòng / Địa điểm) but mean the same thing. In short, reading it comes down to: the section code tells you which class, weekday and period tell you when, room and campus tell you where.

• Course code (Mã HP / Mã MH) The code of the course itself, shared by every section of the same course. Curriculum lists and prerequisites refer to this code.
• Section code (Mã LHP / Nhóm / Tổ) The section code identifies the specific class you registered for. One course has several sections with different times, lecturers and rooms. For grade appeals, section changes or questions in a group chat, people ask for the section code, not the course name.
• Weekday (Thứ) The day of the week, written as 2–7 (Monday to Saturday). Saturday classes are normal at Vietnamese universities, and evening classes may fall on Sunday.
• Period (Tiết) The starting period and number of periods (or written as "tiết 2–4"). One class usually spans 2–3 consecutive periods. What time each period starts must be looked up in your own school's period table — see the next section, this is where most mistakes happen.
• Room (Phòng) Room codes usually combine building + floor + room number, like A1-201 or B5.202, but each school writes them its own way — if you can't work it out, look up your school's room-code guide. At multi-campus schools like UEH (10 sites in HCMC) or HCMUT (Lý Thường Kiệt and Dĩ An campuses), also check the campus column to know where you actually go.
• Teaching weeks (Tuần) Many portals have a "Tuần" column or a string of digits/characters showing which weeks meet and which are off — some courses only run half a semester. At HCMUTE, per the 2025-26 academic-year plan, each 22-week semester is split into two half-semester blocks, đợt 1 and đợt 2 (11 weeks each), so your timetable can change completely mid-semester.
• Lecturer (GV / CBGD) The lecturer in charge of the section. It may be blank or change during the first week, so don't judge the course by this name too early.

Screenshot the timetable as soon as the official version is up. When rooms change, the block (đợt) switches or a section is cancelled later, you have the original to compare and can ask the academic office with the right section code.

What time does period 1 start? Period tables by school

This is where freshmen slip up most: "period 1" at one school is not necessarily the same time as "period 1" at another. HCMUT counts from 06:00 (daytime regular students are actually scheduled from period 2, i.e. 07:00; periods 1 and 17 serve the part-time programme), UEH from 06:20, TDTU from 06:50, HCMUTE from 07:30. Period length differs too: 45 minutes at HCMUTE, 50 at the other three, and UEH's period 7 is 75 minutes (11:30–12:45), so its periods are not evenly spaced.

Note: HCMUT's times in the table are reconstructed from official anchors (period 1 at 06:00, evening block from 18:00 with no breaks, period 17 ending 22:10) because the academic office's original document is no longer accessible — cross-check against the times shown in MyBK. HCMUTE's and TDTU's frames come from 2025-26 documents and the 2025 handbook, UEH's from the official help page; they still apply to 2026-27 unless the school announces otherwise, so always compare with the portal. For EIU no public period table appears in the student handbook; class times are shown only in AAO. Getting the timetable into Google Calendar or a class schedule app

The academic portal only shows a table: it doesn't remind you before class, isn't quick to open on a phone, and some portals log you out constantly. To get your timetable onto your phone, there are three routes depending on your school.

Whichever route you take, remember: only your school's official app should log in with your portal account. With third-party apps you type in or paste the table from the portal; if any app asks for your portal username and password to "sync automatically", don't give it — that account opens your grades, tuition and personal data.

• Your school's official app UEH Student, MY HCMUTE and TDTU Student use the same login as the portal and show your personal timetable. As far as we could verify (July 2026), HCMUT and EIU have no comparable app yet.
• Google Calendar Create a weekly repeating event per section, set the repeat end date to the last teaching week and turn on a reminder before class. You enter each section by hand — about half an hour per semester, but it's a one-off job.
• A period-based timetable app Unlike Google Calendar, a student class schedule app (a period-based timetable app) lets you enter "weekday – period – room" instead of clock times, displays a weekly grid like the portal, and some let you see friends' schedules to find shared free time. Pick one whose period frame matches your school — if the app assumes period 1 is 07:00 but yours is 06:20 or 07:30, every time will be off.

On YourCampus: The YourCampus app ships with the period frame of each supported school (more being added), so you pick the weekday and period exactly as on the portal and the times come out right without memorising when period 3 starts. App user guide

Logged in but the timetable is empty or wrong: what to check first

In the first week of the year, someone in the freshman group chat always asks "I logged in but there's no timetable". Most of the time it isn't a system error but one of the reasons below — check them in this order before messaging the academic office.

• Not published yet Schools assign freshman classes after enrollment and the portal usually opens the official timetable close to the first day. In 2025-26, for instance, HCMUT started semester 1 on 25 Aug 2025 but freshmen enrolled in early September on a separate schedule; HCMUTE's year began 18 Aug 2025 but the K2025 cohort started in September. For the semester 1 timetable of 2026-2027: HCMUT starts week 1 on 24 Aug 2026 (Decision 1848/QĐ-ĐHBK; freshmen enroll after that and follow a separate schedule as in the previous year); UEH calls this term HK cuối 2026, running 10 Aug 2026 to 3 Jan 2027; HCMUTE, TDTU and EIU have not published a public 2026-27 calendar yet — check your school's enrollment notice.
• Wrong semester selected The portal may default to the previous semester. Semester codes differ — the MyBK timetable at HCMUT, for example, uses two digits of the year plus one for the term (251/252/253 = semester 1, 2 and summer of 2025-26), while UEH counts by calendar year with HK đầu, HK giữa, HK cuối. Select the right term first; the table below summarises how four schools label them.
• Section cancelled or registration didn't go through Sections cancelled for low enrollment are fairly common at Vietnamese universities, and portal overloads on registration day have made registered courses disappear before. Reopen the registration section, check the registration result and the academic office's cancellation notices.
• New block (đợt) or term started At schools that split each semester into blocks (HCMUTE: 2 đợt per semester) or run short terms (EIU: 3 main terms of 10 teaching weeks + 2 exam weeks, plus a summer term), the timetable changes several times a year. Make sure you're viewing the current block.
• Last-minute room changes Room changes, cancelled classes and make-up sessions are usually announced by school email or the class Zalo group and may not reach the table in time. Check your school email every day — at HCMUTE, per the K25 guide (June 2025), the student Google account is even locked after 14 days without login.
